Works by artists Linda Dickey, Anita Peghini-Räber and Michael Sprouse will be featured in an exhibition of beach themed contemporary work beginning at 6 p.m., Friday, July 29th, at the office of Prudential Gallo, REALTORS®, located at 37230 Rehoboth Ave., Ext. in Rehoboth Beach. The opening reception for the exhibit is free and refreshments will be served courtesy of Touch of Italy in Rehoboth Beach. The paintings will also be on view daily through the month of August from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday.

"While beach themed art exhibitions are certainly not uncommon in this area, this show promises to present an exciting and contemporary twist on that traditional theme," remarked exhibition curator and participating artist Michael Sprouse. Local watercolorist of note Linda Dickey has created a mix of chimerical watercolors for the exhibit centered around iconographic coastal imagery and colorful abstracted works indicative of shore, sea and sky. Swiss artist Anita Peghini-Räber focuses on naturalistic expressionism in her popular painterly and contemporary canvases infused by shore inspired colors and shapes while artist Michael Sprouse will debut a new line of digitally enhanced contemporary photographs of Rehoboth and Lewes (taken exclusively with an iPhone 4) and infused and hand embellished on canvas. Sprouse added, "While the beach theme is present in this exhibition, we each have presented a rather different artistic interpretation of it. I also purposefully asked for smaller works for this event which, in addition to being quite affordable, add a touch of levity and whimsy to the presentation. This group show is definitely artistically intriguing and compelling, yet carefree and fun."

This show is the third in a series of bi-monthly exhibitions to be presented by Prudential Gallo and curated by artist Michael Sprouse. Subsequent shows will feature original works by local, state and regional artists. A percentage of the proceeds generated by the sale of the artwork will be used to support the Prudential Gallo - Touch of Italy Foundation, whose purpose is to support local charitable organizations and promote the arts in the Cape Region. The foundation’s first performance event in the autumn of 2010 benefited CHEF (Cape Henlopen Education Fund), CAMP Rehoboth, Autism Delaware and the Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary Club Arts Scholarship Fund. The foundation will also offer an annual scholarship to a graduating Cape Henlopen High School senior in the school’s Theater Arts Program at the end of this month.
